Astronomers are among the most brilliant people in the world. They always fight hard to answer most riddles concerning space and galaxy. Several mysteries have faced us daily, and we only look unto our astronomers to provide the best answers. We have been lucky enough to get a solution for some of these mysteries. However, others have been left for the astronomers to work on and grant us the most appropriate answer or solution.
At times, some of the unresolved riddles can e attributed to the supernatural tas we cannot deal with on our own. Some of the numerous mysteries of space and galaxy unresolved by astronomers are as discussed below.
- How will the Universe End?
Everything that has a beginning has an end. In the same case, the earth came into being, and someday it will end. The biggest question is; how will it end? Several theories try to explain how it will eventually come to an end. Firstly, the big crunch theory claims that it will ultimately collapse on itself; the big chill claims that everything will freeze out.
Additionally, there is the Big Rip, where everything with stars and galaxies included will tear apart. Nobody knows which theory is right and which is false. It has not been easy for astronomers to solve this crucial question of how the universe will end. All that is available are just speculations.
- What is Dark Matter?Β
The universe is made up of up to 68% by the riddled dark energy. Also, another significant percentage of 27% consists of ‘dark matter.’ The only 5% remaining consists of the ordinary matter that has not been observed with instruments such as a telescope. We may not know what comprises of the dark matter.
However, it cannot be dark clouds, planets, or stars. Also, it cannot be antimatter or large black holes. We have very little or no information to explain what is the black matter. This has to be the most difficult questions that even astronomers have no answers to still. There is no explanation that is good enough for the definition of the presence of black matter.
- How does the inside of the black hole look like?
Most people can tell how the outside of the black hole looks. It can be through the information granted by the astronomers or from the photos presented to represent the black hole. Nobody or nothing existing has substantial knowledge of how best the inside part looks. The riddle begins with the boundary of the black hole. There is no distinctive physical barrier.
What is available in the horizon distinguishes the two gravitational pulls from the inside and outside of the Black Hole. It is not easy to see the knowledge of a Black hole. If an object is dropped in, it moves faster than the speed of light to escape the black hole’s effects. Even sending a telescope for further examination of the black hole is not possible.
Despite the astronomers’ numerous efforts, it has been a significant mystery that no one has a perfect solution for it. However much we attempt, the results are discouraging as we have no new information. It has not been easy to come up with conclusive answers to most of these questions.
- How Was a Rectangular Galaxy Formed?
For most galaxies, they take up three-dimensional shapes that are disc. Any other form would raise eyebrows, thus the need for close examination. In 2012, astronomers spotted a LEDA galaxy. It is a celestial body that had a rectangular shape and is a dwarf galaxy.
It rested for almost 70 million light-years. Later, it was discovered by a Japanese ground telescope known as the Subaru. According to some scientists, they speculate that it was formed due to the collision of two triangular galaxies.
Out of the numerous scientists and astronomers, no one can explain where LEDA acquired its rule-bending shape that is unique. Due to its appearance, the scientists are unable to ascertain whether it got a spiral disc-like structure or not. Astronomers have solved several mysteries over time. However, with the LEDA, it has been relatively hard to solve.
- What makes Stars to Explode
It is a great mystery of what happens within a star bringing about supernova and what happens inside the explosion. The stars are known to spend part of their life combining several elements through nuclear reactions to more heavy elements. They can carry out this for a very long period.
Afterward, the core of the stars will turn to iron and collapses on itself. It brings about a wave of a powerful shock, which then leads to an explosion; supernova. Scientists are still working on bringing about better explanations on what brings about the star explosion. However, one can’t tell whenever a star is almost exploding.
It remains to be a mystery for a long period. It is a tremendous challenge for the astronomers to explain what internal factors influence the stars to explode with their high knowledge.
- What is Gravity
After the working of Newton, he issued a simple and easy understanding of gravity. It was until Einstein turned it upside down. Despite our knowledge of gravity and its role, modern-day scientists are still working on knowing what it is. Some scientists tend to question the force due to its nature. Being a force, what makes it weaker when compared to nuclear force and electromagnetism?
Additionally, most forces in nature tend to have opposites. What is gravity’s opposite? Why is it that it only pulls? Will there ever be a quantum theory of gravity? These questions have left many scientists questioning whether gravity is a force or not. The astronomers are still working on checking to what extent gravity is a force or not a force. However, it has not been successful, and hence it remains atop riddle unsolved by scientists.
Over a long period, numerous riddles remain unresolved by the astronomers. Coming up with a final word of the research is challenging as there is no evidence or answer. Even though the astronomers work hard to provide the best results, some work is beyond their explanation. It leaves most of us with endless questions on why certain aspects are performed in a specific manner and not the other way. The astronomers are well informed on matters of space and galaxy. However, it is not a walk in the park for them to provide answers to our riddles.
