Astronomers have taken the most detailed image of the sunspot

Astronomers at the Haleakala Observatory in Hawaii have published the most detailed images of the sunspot. This was reported on the website of the National Solar Observatory of the United States (NSO), reports the United States.

The image turned out to be unprecedentedly detailed. It was made on January 28, 2020, but is published only now. According to scientists, the expansion of the new photo is 2.5 times higher than any other image. On it you can see magnetic structures up to 20 km in size and bands of gases emanating from the center of the spot.

The dark part of the sunspot is colder than the surface of the Sun, and its temperature is above 4200 degrees Celsius. The diameter of the spot is more than 16 thousand kilometers. “It’s just a tiny part of the sun,” say researchers.
